How to Become a Spartan SGX Coach

From the SpartanCoaches Website:

Spartan Group Exercise (SGX) is the most unique group exercise program in the world.

For what we believe to be the first time in group exercise history, an individual’s true purpose and motivations stand at the forefront a large scale fitness program.

To become a Spartan SGX Coach, you must first attend the SGX Workshop.

I recently attended this program and it was outstanding….

SGX is designed to create an exhilarating and community driven group atmosphere of positivity, healthy living, awareness, and fitness that optimizes performance in Spartan Races, as well as in daily life.

SGX utilizes an independently developed system of periodization that allows specific components of one’s athleticism, nutrition, fitness, and attitude to be trained and developed throughout a training cycle.

SGX is about getting the world’s population off their couches and moving more, eating healthier and more confident and comfortable in their own skin.

Spartan Coaching’s SGX Certification begins with a mandatory two-day instructional workshop

where you will gain the foundational knowledge and insight necessary to successfully run Spartan SGX classes at your health club or business.

Included in this two day seminar are:

  • An in depth interpretation of The Seven Pillars of Spartan Training
  • A thorough investigation into the physical demands and risks placed on a Spartan Race competitor
  • Program design which includes several distinct styles of workouts, equipment needs, acute variables, and periodization
  • Nutritional guidelines including how to periodize nutritional strategies based on the current health and fitness levels
  • Hands-on application of lessons learned in lecture
  • Practical examination to prove that you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to carry out the SGX mission
  • 16 hrs. of continuing education credit

After attending the Workshop, the final step to becoming a Spartan SGX Coach it to pass an online, 100 question Final Exam following the workshop to become certified

A trainer develops exercise and conditioning programs to help clients reach their physical fitness goals. A trainer will also work one on one with clients during their workouts.

A coach may do some of the same activities but takes it one step further and acts as guiding light to help their clients attain a better life beyond just fitness.

We think exercise is a critical component, but we like the idea of a holistic approach that blends the lines between the physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and social wellness.

This isn’t some far out, oddball approach to life, it is real life, it is living.

Physical activity should be part of daily life, for the people who are looking for the “magic bullet” or “fountain of youth” they can stop because it has been in front them the whole time. It is exercise.

People need to move out of their comfort zones, explore new horizons, and challenge themselves mentally.

There are many ways to achieve spiritual wellness; one way is by developing a set of guiding beliefs.

The Spartan code shares common values that are embraced by people worldwide.

People with emotional wellness control their emotions; express them appropriately, control things in their direct control and don’t sweat the small stuff.

Once an individual has accomplished a seemingly unattainable physical feat, the small stuff just doesn’t seem to matter as much.

Prerequisites for Becoming a Spartan SGX Coach:
